ENERGY COMMUNITIES – Exploring Research, Technologies and Regulations for their Implementation in Europe
Local energy communities and smart energy systems are key elements to increase the use of renewable energy resources at a local level, helping locations with weak connections to the national grid to maximise their energy independence whilst also reducing carbon emissions.
Zelena Energetska Zadruga (ZEZ) organized the event in Križevci, Croatia presenting an overview of the Horizon2020 EU project COMPILE while emphasizing the leading role of ZEZ involvement in the demonstration site Križevci.
Mr. Tomi Medved, representative of consortium partner University of Ljubljana (IRI UL), and Mr. Gašper Artač from Petrol, have presented the COMPILE project during the second presentation of master theses topics for the year 2019 organised by the Laboratory of Energy Policy (LEST) and Petrol.
Representatives of consortium partners University of Ljubljana (IRI UL), ZEZ and organizer Petrol met in Ljubljana for a COMPILE meeting. They discussed about the issues with energy storage instalation, how to connect pilot sites and exchange the data from smart meters.

Mr. Ivan Zoković, representative of Green Energy Cooperative ZEZ, was one of the main speakers during the 3rd national From Words to Action Conference, organised recently by the Ljubljana-based non-Government Organization.
The COMPILE project has officially started on the 1st of November 2018 and all 12 involved partners (industrial partners, universities, research associations, NGOs, municipality and SMEs) have met in Wien (Austria), where the Kick-Off meeting is hosted by the Joanneum Research at their premises.
